Collection Northern Lights

The captivating world of Scandinavian vintage rugs is narrated in the new Battilossi exhibition: soft mantles with hypnotic colors or flat-woven rugs with intricate geometries, celebrating local artistic traditions and textile craftsmanship.

A few months after the debut of the Ge-Technique collection designed by STORAGEMILANO at Fuorisalone 2024 and the presentation of the Made in Italy collection dedicated to Sardinian weaving last July, the Battilossi Texture Library at Via dell'Orso 16 in Milan shifts latitude and takes a step back in time, once again demonstrating its ability to explore diverse worlds and showcasing its 360-degree vision of textile art.

The new exhibition Northern Lights opens on November 20, offering a sensory journey into the world of Scandinavian vintage rugs, featuring eight unique pieces from Battilossi's private collection, created between the 1940s and 1960s. Each piece, hand-knotted, machine-made, or flat-woven, serves as a testament to an era when the language of design was expressed through minimal forms, later evolving into high-pile weavings in multicolored wool, evocative of natural landscapes: blooming flowers, deep oceans, abstract forests and swirling lights with vibrant hues, capable of conveying the energy of a wild and powerful nature.

This selection, a true ode to diversity, once again demonstrates the ability of the Turin-based company to enhance and preserve centuries-old artisanal traditions, safeguarding valuable historical pieces that can be incorporated into contemporary interior design projects, as evidenced by their harmonious combination in Battilossi moodboards, giving life to a complex and coordinated textile project.
