Report Interwoven Secrets

A few months after the presentation of the Ge-Technique collection designed by STORAGEMILANO at Fuorisalone 2024, the Battilossi Texture Library was renewed to unveil the secrets of the Made-in-Italy collection: a collection of carpets that highlighted the mastery of ancient Sardinian weaving.

Made-in-Italy reinterprets some arcane and mysterious techniques of this precious textile heritage, characterised by the more or less evident irregularity of the yarn and grain weaving, blending them with original Battilossi designs that merge classical, figurative and naturalistic motifs with abstract and essential elements, in a poetic and intriguing summer imagery.

This series, a true ode to craftsmanship, once again demonstrates the Turin-based company's ability to enhance and promote centuries-old craft traditions, creating products that can be seamlessly integrated into contemporary interior design projects. This is evidenced by their harmonious inclusion in the mooboard with the Battilossi collection, within a complex and coordinated textile project.

MADE IN ITALY COLLECTION

A round trip from Turin to Samugheo - Sardinia. The Made In Italy collection started as a challenge to produce handmade contemporary rugs 100% designed and manufactured in Italy. Combining both Battilossi design and skilled Italian craftsmanship, focusing as always on product excellence, generated this limited edition of unique rugs. Each rug results from an extraordinary combination of patterns, hues, textures, and decoration designed together to create an harmonious unit. Each piece in this collection is composed of two flatweaves woven in the ancient tradition of the Sardinian “orbace” (and in its technical variation of “s’aramu”), with locally sourced wool. The upper cloth shows the use of “pibiones” – a loop knotting technique – which is often hand painted and silk- screen printed, while the lower cloth is hand-painted in a simpler style.
